Laboratory Assistant/ Electronics Technician

Basel Precision Instruments GmbH is an early stage start-up that develops and offers low noise precision laboratory and scientific electronics. Our instruments enable cutting-edge scientific research and innovation in a wide range of fields requiring ultra-high sensitivity, such as low temperature physics and quantum technology. Current products include a highly stable and low-noise DAC voltage source with 24 bits resolution, highest resolution 8-channel voltage source on the market. We also offer ultra-low noise preamplifiers with active stabilization specifically designed for measurements with extreme sensitivity requirements. Our electronics are already in use in numerous research and government laboratories across the globe.

Following initial success of the above products, we are expanding the production team and relocating to a new lab space. The laboratory assistant will work closely with the founders of the company to set up the new production facilities and start production.

Main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Production and assembly of low-noise high-resolution electronic laboratory instruments

  • Support for R&D efforts in electronics design and improvement 

  • Purchasing of components, warehousing and inventory management

  • Calibrating and testing electronic instruments and documentation

  • Preparation and maintenance of technical documents (data-sheets, manuals, etc)

  • Conducting ad-hoc measurements and data analysis

  • Occasionally supporting technical customer service

  • Occasionally attending exhibitions and customer visits

Strengths of the candidate:

  • Background in electronics, electrical engineering or physics

  • Work experience as a laboratory assistant or technician is a plus

  • Self-motivated with high level of responsibility and independent work attitude

  • Good organization and communication skills

  • Great team work 

  • Good verbal and written English and German
