Basel Precision Instrument GmbH (baspi.ch) offers high-end, ultra-low-noise and ultra-stable electronics for quantum research. A spin-off of the physics department, BASPI is located at the university campus in Basel. Our team of low-noise electronic experts works closely with the quantum and low-temperature research groups here in the house. With a dynamic local environment and a customer base of over 100 research labs worldwide, BASPI offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a high-tech start-up.


Main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Production of silver-epoxy based cryogenic microwave filters

  • Production and assembly of low-noise ultra-stable electronic laboratory instruments

  • Assisting in packing, shipping and other ad-hoc tasks 

  • Purchasing of components, warehousing and inventory management

  • Calibrating and testing high-end electronic devices and documentation

  • Preparation and maintenance of technical documents (datasheets, manuals, etc.)

  • Support for R&D efforts; ad-hoc measurements and data analysis

  • Supporting technical customer service

  • Occasionally attending exhibitions and customer visits


Strengths of the candidates:

  • Technical background in a mechanical, electrical or chemical workshop, or science and engineering

  • Work experience as a laboratory assistant or technician is a plus

  • Self-motivated with a high level of responsibility and an independent work attitude

  • Excellent organization and communication skills

  • Exceptional teamwork 

  • Good verbal and written English; German is a plus
